An Exciting New Era for GoodSports Hungary -by Trudy Chun

There is no growth without change ...” --Rick Warren

Change can be a scary thing. It evokes feelings of uncertainty and sometimes fills us with anxiety. But change, although necessarily difficult, does not have to be catastrophic. Sometimes, it is the key to progress, the very nutrients that cause growth.

After a decade of living and ministering in Hungary, the Chuns will be returning to the states for a season. This change inaugurates a whole new era for GoodSports in Hungary as the organization will take on a much more Hungarian personality. Hungarian boards have already been established for GoodSports Hungary, Logos Language School, and the Mikepercs Baseball Club. Upon the Chuns' departure, these Hungarian nationals will take the reins and keep the ministries moving forward.

GoodSports Hungary will change, but it is a change for better. It has always been Russell's vision to raise up Hungarians to run the ministry from a Hungarian perspective. “In servant leadership we are called to come along side others, work with them, equip them and raise them up to be leaders,” Russell explained. “I pray this vision will unfold into reality as GoodSports enters this new period.”

Since its inception in the early 1990s, GoodSports has never been about one person. Leaders have come and gone, but God has seen fit to continue using this organization to reach kids with His love, often against the odds.

God has always been the one who sustained this organization,” Russell commented.  At it's very core, it's not GoodSports Hungary but GOD Sports Hungary, and we have to remember that.

The programs will continue. The camps will go on. And God's incredible love will be shared among the children. The Chuns' vision remains with GoodSports Hungary, and they intend to return to provide support and personnel for summer camps in the years ahead.
